
I have been practising Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga for about seven and a half years, and teaching for just over 5 years, I was taught by Angie and Lee Masefield of Angalees Yoga in Queens Road Southend until they moved to France to open a Yoga Retreat.
Since then I have studied under several teachers – including Jane Sleven and David Swensen – as well as attending many workshops with teachers such as Andrea Durant, Godfrey Deveraux, Paul Fox, and Liz Lark to name but a few. I am also British Wheel trained.
I teach classes in several gyms around Southend, the Adult community college in Leigh and have taught classes for mental illness and yoga in chairs.
Ashtanga Yoga has a reputation of being quite strenuous and challenging and some people assume that only the super fit can practice it. This can be quite off putting, I think this is a misconception, my belief is that anyone can practise this yoga as it can be as soft and gentle or as physically challenging as you wish
