"Liz Smith"
I discovered Yin Yoga in Edmonton, Canada, where I was blessed with a couple of beautiful teachers that introduced me to this profound practice. I fell in love with this form of yoga immediately and I feel honoured and privileged to be able to bring this art form home to England.

From Edmonton, I flew to Chicago to do my Yin Yoga teacher training and yoga anatomy with Paul Grilley, and a little later, with Sarah Powers at Tri Yoga in London. I then returned to Edmonton to teach yin yoga at the Yoga Loft and at a treatment centre for women suffering from eating disorders, prior to returning to the UK in December 2008.

Yin Yoga, in conjunction with my meditative practice, grounded in Thich Nhat Hanh’s Buddhist tradition,
has become an essential part of my life, instilling balance and harmony within my more yang lifestyle and personality. It complements my springboard and highboard diving enormously and brings me home to myself. It is a sacred container for me to inhabit parts of myself that I have not accessed for a long time in the light of awareness promoting healing, health and wholeness.

I am currently living in Leigh on Sea where I teach Yin at Shambhala studios. I am deeply passionate about yin yoga practice and teaching. I am an art psychotherapy trainee, studying my masters at the University of Hertfordshire
