My passion for Yoga began after becoming a full time mum. I was
desperate to reduce persistent back pain following a career
working in the City, the effects of poor posture, stress and
anxiety were displaying themselves as pain within my body.
Feeling stressed as a new mother with two children under the age
of two my back pain continued. Encouraged by a
physiotherapist to try Yoga I was fortunate to find a teacher who
inspired me with her love of yoga and wealth of knowledge and I
soon began reaping benefits to my health both physically and
more importantly mentally to release tension and tightness from
both my body and mind.
After attending classes and retreats for the next few years I
embarked on a Teacher Training course studying with Triyoga
accredited by The British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance. I
completed my Teaching Diploma in 2010. Since joining
Shambhala Studios I have taught Beginner, Yoga for All,
Dynamic and Family classes whilst continuing to teach privately
1-2-1 students.
I still enjoy taking part in many yoga classes as I continue to
deepen my knowledge and passion for yoga. I am constantly
reading and updating my knowledge both online and through
study books. I also take advantage of the great training days
that The BWY provide and the workshops that Shambhala
Studios are able to offer with highly regarded teachers visiting
the studio from afar.
On a personal journey since 2013 I have been actively studying on
a Foundation Programme with The New Kadampa Tradition, which
follows the pure tradition of Mahayana Buddhism brought to our
modern world by the Buddhist Monk and
Founder of the tradition Geshle Kelsang Gyatso. I feel that
following this wonderful practice has begun to deepen my
understanding of training the mind and enhances my yoga
teaching.
“If we want to be truly happy and free from suffering, we must
learn how to control our mind.”
